Prof. Tiziano Tuccinardi
Medicinal Chemistry, University of Pisa.
His research interests include drug and lead discovery, with a focus on computer-assisted approaches and medicinal chemistry, including the synthesis of small molecules and virtual and biomolecular screening.
Dr. Giulio Poli
Medicinal Chemistry, University of Pisa. Development of efficient VS protocols and innovative computational procedures for the identification of hit/lead compounds of various protein targets, ligand binding mode prediction and energetic/mechanistic analyses, lead and hit-to-lead optimization studies.
Prof. Tommaso Pizzorusso
Full professor (Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa). His long-term research focus is on understanding the functional basis of the formation and response of cortical circuits to pathology under normal conditions. To address these questions, he utilizes models of environmental factors (such as visual deprivation), genetic factors and vascular lesions. His approach combines electrophysiological and imaging techniques with molecular studies. His research group has longstanding expertise in investigating mouse models of human mutations associated with neurodevelopment, such as Rett and CDKL5 deficiency disorder.
Michael Sattler
Michael Sattler, trained in chemistry and NMR in Frankfurt and Abbott, pioneered structural
biology of proteins and RNAs in gene regulation and splicing at EMBL Heidelberg. Since 2007
at Helmholtz Munich and TUM, his lab applies integrative methods (NMR, cryo-EM) to study
non-coding RNAs, spliceosome assembly, and disease pathways, advancing structure-based
drug discovery.
